Many news outlets are reporting that Robert De Niro Famed Producer, Director and Actor is bringing the Tribecca Film Festival to Doha. Festival is scheduled for November 2009.

NEW YORK (Reuters) By Claudia Parsons- New York’s Tribeca Film Festival, founded by actor Robert De Niro after the September 11 attacks, plans to stage a new festival in the Gulf Arab state of Qatar next year.
Created as a way to rejuvenate lower Manhattan after the 2001 al Qaeda attacks, Tribeca has become a showcase for international films with a political edge, and organizers said the Tribeca Film Festival Doha would do the same.
“We hope that film will not only be used as a form of entertainment at Tribeca Film Festival Doha but play a role in bridging cultures closer together,” De Niro said in a statement released late on Sunday.

I am especially excited that this highly prestigious film festival will be coming to Doha. I am hoping to report directily from the event.
Dubai has had the pleasure of hosting film festivals over the past few years and they have been a huge success. This years film festival which ended yesterday has been hailed as one of the most successful of the Five year running event.
Hollywood Stars included Ben and Casey Affleck, Salma Hayek, Nicolas Cage, Hassan Salwan, Ahmad al Saleh, Goldie Hawn, Preity Zinta , Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Suri, and Shahana Goswami. As well as over 1000 members of the International Film industry.
In all Almost 50,000 people showed up to view the 200+ titles entering the Festival. I was unable to attend this years event but it looks like it was a lot of fun and I look foward to the Tribecca Film Festival Doha.
Although not alot of Celebrities are expected to attend the first film festival, I am sure some will attend. If next years festival is a success more and more stars from the International Film Industry will attend, and so will thousands of fans looking to get a glimpse of their favorite star.
